Other City and State Agencies
NYC Commission on Human Rights – NYS Division of Human Rights – Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) – and Environmental Control Board
In addition to prosecuting and/or defending claims on behalf of Landlords at the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (“DHCR”), which the firm does on virtually a daily basis, occasions arise when it is necessary to represent the interests of the landlord at various Agencies such as the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the New York State Division of Human Rights and/or the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Handling matters before these Agencies include defending against various complaints by Tenants of discrimination on the part of the Landlord. A Tenant may claim he or she is being discriminated upon on the basis of race, age, gender or sexual orientation. The Tenant may also claim that he or she is being discriminated against on the basis of a recognized physical or mental disability. Often, we handle claims at the various City Agencies handle simultaneously with Court cases in which those claims arise. It is then necessary to coordinate the prosecution and/or defense of the Court case with that matter pending before the City or State Agencies, so as to ultimately achieve a complete and consistent resolution before both forums. The firm has the experience and ability to handle the prosecution or defense of the multifaceted matters so as to ultimately achieve a global and consistent resolution.
