Standardized Increase Factor 2012-2013

The Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) has set the final standard adjustment factor (SAF), also referred to as the standardized increase factor, for the 2012-2013 maximum base rent (MBR) cycle at 7.8%. This is the same amount as the preliminary SAF announced in November. The SAF is the percentage by which owners can increase the MBR of each rent-controlled apartment for the cycle. The DHCR will start issuing orders of eligibility for MBR increases to owners in early to mid-February. Once an order of eligibility is received, begin filing the forms needed to collect MBR increases from rent-controlled tenants. The requisite forms can be printed from the DHCR’s website, www.nyshcr.org. Electronic versions of the forms are also available and can be submitted online through the website.
